Why we Chose Asheville

After renting vacation homes twice in the Asheville area we began looking for our own personal retreat to share with others. It is so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, amazing waterfalls and every type of great outdoor activity you can imagine while being equally close to shopping, restaurants and the multi-cultural fun of Asheville! Or… it call feel far away from everything if that is what you want.

We love the drive up the mountain roads past farmer’s lush fields, cows, goats, horses, llamas etc. as this wonderful place helps us leave the complexities of life behind. The 2 houses are truly unique with beautiful detail which caught our admiration and interest from the start.

The opportunity to ‘get away from it all’ while still being close to the convenience and appeal of Asheville makes this our perfect get-away.

About the owners – Jim and Beth Paluch

We live east of Cleveland, Ohio in a little country burg called Leroy. No mountains there but it is still pretty special with five acres of woods.

Our lives reached an unprecedented level of happiness in 2015 as our first grandchild was born. We have been married for 36 years, and worked together in our own business for 27 years.

Jim is an inspirational speaker and business coach and has written three motivational novels. We have worked together to create interactive in-house training programs and are known for seminars and team-building events that making learning and communicating fun.

Jim graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture and landscaping has always been our hobby. Though we have only just begun, the landscape at Highwoods has his signature look now. With each of our own personal trips to Highwoods, we make outdoor improvements big and small. Our latest passion is developing Highwoods Park and the Rec Barn that adds another whole dimension to your stay at Highwoods!

With a concern for indoor entertainment replacing outdoor activity and the health issues our society has experienced as a result, Jim started a movement in the Landscape Profession in 2010 called COME ALIVE OUTSIDE. Today as a 501c3 non-profit, Come Alive Outside creates collaborative community systems with professional landscape firms, high school and college students and entire communities working together to share the importance of getting kids and adults back outside – http://www.comealiveoutside.com

We hope everyone that comes to Highwoods Gardens enjoys the property, the views and the entire area half as much as we do. We consider this our second home and we are excited to share it with you!
